Search Continues for Missing Professor
by Kitty~Mail
Search-and-rescue crews are continuing to comb the wooded areas near Bald Bluff, a hillside hiking area located within the southern unit of Kettle Morraine State Park.
Dr. Tom Rexlettob was reported missing Friday evening after failing to attend a "Bones N Bits" conference at which he was to be the keynote speaker. Well-known for his pioneering archeological research, Dr. Rexlettob is a tenured professor at South Cheese University. His current work centers around folklore of the Mississippian tribes.
Deputy Dennis Ford, working in conjunction with Whitewater Police notes that Dr. Rexlettob was last seen at the Bald Bluff overlook area, about a quarter mile up the trail. "There's just the one trail," Ford notes, "with a fork where most folks stay to the left and continue up the main path." Rexlettob, last seen by a hiker passing through the area, was "digging around in a hollow tree directly behind several benches at the overlook."
Curious parties and would-be rescuers are reminded that while the parking area for Bald Bluff does not currently require a parking permit or state park permit, local authorities say a change in this policy will be coming soon and to check at the nearby John Muir trailhead parking lot ranger station for updates.
